Mapping AUTOSAR Interfaces to TTCN-3

Großmann, Jürgen; Schieferdecker, Ina: Mapping AUTOSAR Interfaces to TTCN-3, TTCN-3 User Conference 2009, 3  - 5 June 2009, ETSI, Sophia Antipolis, France, 2009

AUTOSAR is a major standardization initiatives to overcome the heterogeneity in the specification and realization of automotive software application. It provides an overall architecture and platform for modeling and realizing software and hardware solutions for embedded, distributed control systems and will change the common practice of software production in the automotive industry. Whereas the importance of AUTOSAR for software development is well understood, its potential for testing is not yet discovered. The AUTOSAR standard provides means for a semi-formal definition of software designs, of associated behavioral components, relevant communication interfaces and communication related behavior.

The research project TEMEA (“TEst specification and test Methodology for Embedded systems in Automobiles”) (www.temea.org) has started to provide an overall test methodology that is tightly integrated in the AUTOSAR development process. The methodology is based on the Test and Test Control Notation (TTCN-3) and as such on a standardized test method that adapts well to the concepts of AUTOSAR.

As a first step to a seamless integration we introduce a concise mapping between the interface related concepts of AUTOSAR and TTCN-3. In our talk we show how individual AUTOSAR concepts, like data types, interface definitions, ports and communication characteristics, map to the respective TTCN-3 constructs. Moreover, we demonstrate how TTCN-3 test interface definitions can be directly derived from AUTOSAR specifications and discuss the related test approaches
